About the event
The Ketchikan Running Club is excited to launch this new event for 2021: a virtual hiking challenge! The Tongass Treks Challenge will be open to everyone during the summer to get outside and enjoy the beautiful trails Ketchikan has to offer.
Registration for this event costs $5+ processing fee and includes a sticker designed by local artist Gregg Poppen. Stickers will be available to pick-up from the Ketchikan Running Club - stay tuned for pick up time/date. Participants must take a picture with their sticker at the designated landmark along each of the 6 trails + 1 bonus trail. Please download photos and log your hiking miles on your event page to be entered in to one of three different drawings categories: gold, silver, bronze. Prizes for each categories include a basket of goodies donated by local businesses/sponsors!
"Gold" Basket: Complete all six trails and earn one entry. You can earn a second entry for completing the bonus (traverse) trail.
"Silver" Basket: Complete any of the five trails and earn one entry.
"Bronze" Basket: Complete any of the four trails and earn one entry.
Please note: If you complete all six trails, you will be entered into all 3 basket drawings. The more you hike, the better your chances of winning!
All drawing winners will be announced on Sunday October 3rd.
Challenge will run from May 1st through September 30th and registration will be open throughout.
